Teacher Training Introduction
Our teacher training program provides teachers with the knowledge & skill to apply STEM approach in teaching current existing subjects at school. After the program, teachers will be equipped with necessary skills to create an environment where students are encouraged to fulfill their potentials and develop their passion for learning. In such environment, each teacher assumes the role of a “coach” instead of an “instructor” to bring the most relevant learning experience to their students. Students then learn through experience in real-life projects, which promote curiosity and desire for knowledge, as well as creativity and critical thinking.

AmericanSTEM are working with both Vietnamese and international schools and organizations in our constant effort to bring the merits of STEM education to Vietnamese students.


STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is an integrated method applied in each lesson, therefore provide knowledge for children basing on practical experiences, and also build up necessary skills of 21st century such as: Critical thinking, teamwork, collaboration, presenting... STEM education brings about creative experiences into the learning process. Students learn from project-based, be assigned with missions upon each project, therefore maximize creativity and help applying knowledge to complete the missions. Besides, students gradually absorb habits in thinking, observing and evaluating phenomena, events scientifically and logically. Collaborating, sharing, presenting skills are also integrated during the whole learning process.

"Real STEM - Real Life" is the educational philosophy of AmericanSTEM. The beauty of STEM Education lies in helping students figuring out the realistic solutions for problems in reality. In STEM Education, the projects and missions assigned for students must come from real problems, not assumptions; must create a relation between students and real missions. In order to achieve this, each STEM project is not only focus on learning objectives of any single subject but to integrate different ones, create an environment to apply integrated knowledge, therefore helping students to maximize thoughts and creativity and turn the knowledge into their own. Learning from life is an exciting and endlessly creative learning process. There will be no limitation for students in detecting the problems and finding out their own solutions.

There are many differences between America and Vietnam's program. However, the most significant difference among them is in America, students learn STEM subjects from a very early age (Grade 1) with greater duration than in America. America's learning method based on practice and application a lot. Children are often learn project-based. Meanwhile in Vietnam, students study lots of theories but less practice. Therefore, evaluating students in America based on if students can achieve the learning objectives of each project/subject or not. It is not only about the results of the project/subject but also about the learning process, including developing necessary skills and competencies, such as critical thinking ability, teamwork, collaborative learning skills, presentation skills and presentation and student progress.

In STEM Education, the learning objectives are not only achieving knowledge but also developing necessary skills for students, both boys and girls. Besides, STEM Education also supports students in developing humanistic and aesthetic values, no less than social-science subjects. For example, when students handing on building STEM City, aesthetic skills will be boost up to help building the beautiful dream city. When greening the city by planting flowers or plants, designing a system which generates electricity from solar and wind energy, students are nurtured sense of respect and protection of the environment, gratitude towards what they learn from the society... That is what the humanistic and aesthetic that need to be nurtured from the very young ages like kindergarten and primary schools, for both boys and girls, therefore be well-prepared themselves for the future ahead.

STEM program of AmericanSTEM is taught in bilingual (English and Vietnamese), helping students to sufficient language skills in academic for studying abroad. Learning STEM following America's NGSS helps students in achieving knowledge and necessary skills in learning equivalent to America and international students. More importantly, to learn effectively when studying abroad, students needs important skills in the international environment such as teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, collaborative learning and flexibility… Those are skills that are practiced daily in every STEM class.
